Kelly Clarkson has ties to country music after doing duets with Reba and Jason Aldean. Many have asked when she was going to release a country album and she shocked many after releasing a country version of her single "Mr. Know It All." Some stations have picked up the single, but not many. The version has groove and traded in fiddle and steel for electro-pop sounds. Looking forward to seeing more country music from Kelly Clarkson.
While Blake Shelton is busy keeping up with his wife Miranda, making music of his own, and taping the show The Voice, there's another item to add to Blake's to-do list. Blake is collaborating with Cee-Lo Green on a song, and supposed to go into the studio soon. Interesting collaboration if I must say so myself.

Reba is alive and well. According to the country music legend in a statement on her website, someone started a rumor that she had died while filming a movie in Austria on a mountaintop. This is the statement Reba released on her website, twitter and facebook page: "There is a rumor going around that I died after falling off a mountain in Austria yesterday while shooting a movie. While I would love to be shooting a movie in Austria, I definitely did not fall off a mountain! Nor am I dead! I am alive and kicking!!! Most of you know this already because I've been giving you daily accounts of Shelby's race. Oh well. Have a great day." That is not the first rumor over the past few weeks. Cher and Adele were trending on twitter with RIP, both releasing statements saying the artists were alive and well.
On a completely different note, I want to introduce an artist from a different genre each edition that is making a huge impact on music and in the world. This edition, the talented Skyla Solomon takes the first new genre story. Growing up in around the West Coast, Skyla was surrounded by her musical Christian family. Her faith is projected into what she does daily. Skyla talked about her past and remembers the abusive evironment which led to singing as her escape. At 17, Skyla joined Battered Person's Advocacy, an organization that supports victims of domestic violence.
While writing songs she wants it to move you. I had the chance to talk with Skyla over skype to discuss her new single "Open Road" which released Jan 31st. Not only is she a down to earth woman, she has a heart of gold. She may have had a rough past, but her charitable lifestyle definitely stands out above others. She is highly involved with local children's hospitals and letting music help heal and provide an escape like she had. She is truly one of a kind. Her generosity will consume you. Skyla is one of those people that has a personality that will hook you.
Skyla's single "Open Road" is available for download on iTunes, Amazon and more. Here's what reviewers have to say about "Open Road"
"Sends chills down our spines as we are mesmerized by its hypnotic beats."
"Ordinary is not the word used to describe Skyla Solomon. Skyla's new single 'Open Road' brings something new to the table."
"Any singer that pulls off a song like this without autotune hurdles is a star in my book."
"In a world infatuated with Gaga and Spears, Skyla Solomon is a welcome."
